Read sensors with Smart A/D for maximum versatility and accuraсу
Sensoray’s model 2218 is a USB 8-channel sensor interface. Each channel can be independently configured to read voltage, thermocouples, or resistive devices such as thermistors, RTDs, or strain gauges. Eight channels of general-purpose I/O are available for digital control and monitoring.
The 2218 takes every measure to guarantee the accuracy of your data: Each analog channel is sampled up to 5 times per second. A voltage-to-frequency converter increases resolution at lower values where it is needed most. For example, at +/- 5V, the resolution is 200uV, but at +/- 0.10V, it is 5uV. Adjustments for non-linearity are made on board according to the selected sensor type. Onboard hardware is used as reference standards for periodic recalibration to maintain high accuracy without interrupting data capture. Pulsed voltages to excite resistive devices minimize sensor heating. Four-wire connections are available for all eight channels.
The USB connection supplies the needed power. An auxiliary 5V jack is available for use with high-current sensors. Alarms can be set to trigger when monitored values fall outside user-defined parameters. Spring-lock type pluggable terminal blocks provide long-term reliability and ease of use. An all-metal enclosure is available for rugged protection and EMI shielding.
